Apple’s T2 chip disconnects mic when MacBook lid is closed to stop eavesdropping


Apple’s new security chip T2 is probably the most understated feature of new MacBooks released this year. A new security guide released by the company reveals that it disconnects the microphone when the lid is closed to ensure no one can eavesdrop on users. The guide suggests that because this is strictly a hardware function, no software can access the microphone, including software with root privileges and the one on the T2 chip. Macron convinces UK nuclear startup to build its first factory in France

London-based nuclear energy startup Newcleo has scrapped plans to build its first power plant in Britain, opting to invest in France instead.  The move follows extensive lobbying by France’s president Emmanuel Macron, who has personally met with Newcleo’s chief executive and founder Stefano Buono several times, to convince him to build the company’s first modular nuclear reactor in France, the Telegraph reports.  Founded in 2021, Newcleo develops small nuclear reactors powered by radioactive waste.
