Google sets new record for calculating pi — but what’s the point?


Developers have set a new record in the endless quest to accurately calculate pi. A team led by Google Cloud’s Emma Haruka Iwao found 100 TRILLION digits of the mathematical constant — smashing the previous benchmark of 31.4 trillion.
