Worrying loophole in Italy’s facial recognition ban points to the EU’s future


Italy has introduced a new facial recognition ban, but it features a glaring exemption that is set to echo across the EU. The new ruling outlaws the use of facial recognition technology (FRT) — unless the tech is used for crime fighting or judicial investigation.
